More than 10,000 visitors head to Heffron Park in Maroubra each Saturday for netball, and the thousands of players using the precinct now have a new amenities building beside the courts.
Randwick Netball Association has almost 5,000 members, making netball the largest participation sport in the area. The new facilities have been positioned alongside the courts used by players, officials and visitors during regular competition and training.
The amenities building includes a large change room, dedicated female bathrooms, a DDA bathroom and five unisex bathrooms. A separate referee bathroom has also been provided, along with storage for sporting groups.
New Facilities for Heffron Park Netball
The project was planned with accessibility and inclusivity in mind, including facilities intended to provide a safe and welcoming setting for women and girls taking part in community sport.
The new building replaces the central amenities block at Heffron Park and was officially opened on the weekend.
Construction ran from October 2025 to July 2026 after design finalisation between August and October 2025. The project was co-funded by Randwick City Council and the NSW Government through the Level Playing Field Program.
While Randwick Netball is the main focus of the new amenities, the building sits within a park used by a broad mix of sporting groups throughout the week.
A Sporting Hub in Maroubra
Heffron Park is Randwick City’s largest recreational park and hosts training and competition across several sports.
Cricket, touch football, cycling, rugby union, rugby league, Oztag and soccer are among the other activities held at the park, alongside the large netball program.
The scale of Saturday netball gives the new facilities a regular role in the precinct, with almost 5,000 association members and more than 10,000 visitors attending Heffron Park each Saturday.
Beyond the courts, the amenities are also available to other people using the park. Visitors to the Heffron Park Markets, held on the third Sunday of each month, are among those expected to use the new facilities.
The building also contains a Council storeroom and plant room, completing the range of spaces included in the reconstruction.
